Looking for a personal and intimate stay? You won’t be disappointed with Libertitu. Our room was big and airy, with parquet floors, fast Wi-Fi, and even a little kitchen as well as a dining space. The shower setup was a bit quirky, as it was just around the corner from the sinks with no door. However, it was spacious, modern, and stocked with nice soap.
During our stay, we were offered to have our groceries delivered right to our room, which was super thoughtful. We were also thankful that there was an elevator since our room was on the second floor and our bags were heavy! We didn’t use the airport shuttle, but it’s there if you’re flying in and don’t want the hassle.
And then there’s the location. Just close enough to Bayonne’s Old Town to wander in on foot, but far enough to be quiet at night. We appreciated having a reserved parking spot just a street over, since parking here can be tricky.

Best View. We picked Hôtel Le Bayonne because of its convenient location, and it turned out to be a great choice. Just a short walk from Les Halles and the city center, we could slip out in the mornings for coffee and pastries, or explore the town for dinner without worrying about taxis.

Best Value for Money. OKKO Hotels Bayonne Centre totally caught us by surprise. Nestled on a busy traffic circle in a quieter, residential corner, it didn’t scream “charm” at first. But just two blocks from the tourist office and a 10-minute walk to the old town, we found ourselves only moments away from the gothic cathedral, poking around the Basque Museum, and getting lost in the covered market overflowing with cured ham.
The highlight for us was Le Club on the top floor. Far from the usual dead-lobby vibe, it was buzzing with books, board games, as well as free snacks and drinks. We spent hours just lounging on the terrace, soaking in the sun and city views. Aside from that, we also appreciated the wellness amenities, which included a small fitness room and sauna.
We have to admit, every inch of our Classic Room was cleverly designed. Curtains doubled as closets, a bench doubled as part of the bathroom wall, and soft lighting made the space feel cozy.
