Inn at Parkside

Let’s kick off this list with the Inn at Parkside, which was such a refreshing change of pace. This luxurious B&B has a charming 1930s vibe with just enough modern updates to keep things comfy and stylish. Tucked away near downtown, just minutes from the Capitol and Old Sacramento, the location made exploring super easy.
The highlight of our stay was none other than the spa. We booked the 90-minute Signature Swedish Massage, and it was incredible. It was super relaxing and exactly what we needed. The whole spa experience, from the infrared sauna to the outdoor patio, made us feel completely pampered. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay with a touch of luxury, this spot is a winner.
We stayed in the Destiny Mansion Room inside the Fong Mansion, and it was a perfect mix of vintage charm and modern comfort. The wooden floors and classic furnishings gave it character, while the free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, and cozy robes made it feel like a boutique hotel. It was the kind of place that invites you to slow down and just enjoy the moment.
“A true hidden gem in Sacramento. Luxurious rooms, relaxing spa treatments, and warm, welcoming staff.”

Villa Arden Hills

Best Resort. Villa Arden Hills is the perfect example of a luxurious resort. We were genuinely surprised at how quickly it made us feel worlds away without having to travel far. The peaceful gardens, the calm atmosphere, and little moments like sipping tea outdoors or stargazing made it the perfect escape from our usual routine. It was quiet, luxurious, and just what we needed to slow down and breathe.
We booked the Valencia Suite, and it was full of cozy, Mediterranean charm. The warm orange and cream tones gave it such a sunny, inviting feel. The bed was incredibly comfy, and we loved having our own balcony to enjoy the view with a drink in hand. The highlight, though, was the in-room whirlpool tub. The whole space felt like a stylish little slice of Spain.
Another major plus was the complimentary access to the LifeTime Resort next door. It’s more than just a gym, though. It’s a wellness haven with top-tier equipment, outdoor pools, and a great mix of fitness classes. We squeezed in a good workout and still had time to relax poolside.

AC Hotel by Marriott Sacramento

The AC Hotel by Marriott Sacramento is another great pick. The hotel has a sleek, European-inspired vibe that makes it feel more boutique than chain. We loved the location, which put us just a short walk to the California State Railroad Museum and the Sacramento Convention Center. It was the perfect base for exploring downtown without needing a car.
What about the room? Our Standard King Room was comfy and well-designed. The bed was super cozy with soft pillows, and we appreciated the little touches like the mini fridge, coffee/tea setup, and adjustable reading lights. It wasn’t overly fancy, but everything felt intentional and high quality, which was exactly what we needed for a relaxing stay.
Mornings at AC Kitchen were a treat. Their European-style breakfast included fresh pastries, artisan meats, egg tarts, yogurt, and Nespresso coffee. It was way better than the usual hotel spread. We also made use of the gym and grabbed a drink at the bar one night.

DoubleTree by Hilton Sacramento

Staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sacramento was such a great experience. Just off the Capital City Freeway and literally right across from Arden Fair Mall, shopping and grabbing a bite was ridiculously easy. We also spotted a movie theater and a comedy club nearby, so there’s no shortage of things to do.
We hit the jackpot with the Presidential Suite. It was everything we hoped for and more. The room was huge, sparkling clean, and had a modern vibe that made us feel right at home. The living room had so much natural light and the coziest sofa (seriously, we didn’t want to get up). There was even a kitchen, which was super handy, and the bathtub in the bathroom was our favorite.
The hotel has some nice amenities, too. We’re talking about a swimming pool, a modern 24/7 gym, and meeting rooms. For food and drinks, Twigs Café is great for quick bites, and Twigs Lounge is a cool spot to chill with a drink.

Hyatt Regency Sacramento

Best Restaurant. Looking for a downtown escape at one of the best luxury hotels in Sacramento California? Consider the Hyatt Regency Sacramento! Right across from the lush Capitol Park, we were only steps away from great spots like the Crocker Art Museum and the Old Sacramento Waterfront. From cool restaurants to local shops and even some nightlife, everything was walkable.
For our stay, we booked the King Room with a Capitol view, and it was exactly what we hoped for. The highlight, of course, was waking up to the view of Capital Park each morning. We couldn’t ask for anything better! The rest was what we expected from a Hyatt hotel, including luxurious bathroom amenities and a tea station.
One of the standout features at the hotel for us was the fitness center. It wasn’t your average hotel gym. It actually had complimentary guided workouts created by Future personal training, which made squeezing in a workout feel effortless and even fun. After breaking a sweat, we treated ourselves to dinner at Dawson’s Steakhouse downstairs. The vibe there was super upscale, and the food was incredible. We went for the grass-fed steak and fresh seafood, and everything was cooked to perfection. Add in a glass (or two) of wine from their award-winning list, and it was the perfect end to a great day.

Best Spa. There are so many things to love about The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa. For one, we loved how peaceful yet conveniently located it was. Just a short drive from Old Sacramento, the zoo, and Golden 1 Center, it gave us easy access to the city’s highlights. Being close to both airports made traveling in and out super easy, too.
Our stay was awesome thanks to the Junior Suite. We had everything we needed, including a comfy seating area, a kitchenette, and a great bathroom stocked with robes and nice toiletries. The highlight, though, was the fireplace. Also, having two beds made it perfect for stretching out.
During our stay, we also made full use of the amenities, from the well-equipped fitness center to the relaxing outdoor pool and whirlpool. But the real treat was Spa La Le. The massage was incredibly relaxing and totally worth it. This spot is perfect if you’re looking to unwind with a touch of luxury.

The Exchange Sacramento

We truly loved every minute of our stay at The Exchange Sacramento. Right in the heart of DOCO, this stylish hotel is set in a beautifully restored 1914 building that blends historic charm with modern luxury. The location is perfect! We were just a quick walk to Golden 1 Center and the Capitol Museum, so we were never far from the action.
Furthermore, our Deluxe King Room was the ideal mix of comfort and elegance. The bed was super cozy, the city view was gorgeous, and we appreciated the extras like plush robes, SACHAJUAN toiletries, a Keurig, and a big 55-inch flat-screen TV. The space felt fresh and thoughtfully designed, with touches of history that were hard to find elsewhere.
The real gem, though, was the on-site restaurant, Willow. We dare say it’s the heart of the hotel. With its velvet couches and eclectic decor, it had such a cool, inviting vibe. We had dinner there and couldn’t stop talking about the pan-seared scallops. The menu’s Mediterranean influence really shines, and it’s a great spot whether you’re starting or ending your day.

Best Rooftop Lounge. We had an amazing stay at the Hyatt Centric Downtown Sacramento. It’s one of those places that effortlessly combines modern luxury with local charm. The location couldn’t have been better for us; everything we wanted to see was just a short walk away. Whether we were catching a game at the Golden 1 Center, exploring the historic Old Sacramento Waterfront, or just strolling around the DOCO district, it was all super convenient.
Food-wise, this place also delivered. We had a fantastic dinner at 7th Street Standard. Every dish felt like a love letter to California’s farm-fresh ingredients. Chef Ravin Patel really knows how to bring flavor to the table. Later, we headed up to the Clayton Club, the tallest rooftop bar in the city, and instantly fell in love with the laid-back atmosphere. Great cocktails, tasty small bites, and that open-air view? The perfect way to end the evening.
Time to sleep? You won’t be disappointed with our Capitol Dome View room. The room was spacious and well decorated, with little touches that gave a nod to Sacramento’s jazz roots. The king bed was incredibly comfortable (we may have slept in a little too long), and the big Chromecast TV made it easy to unwind with our favorite shows. There was also plenty of space to work and lounge, which made it feel like a luxe apartment.

Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel

While there are no 5 star hotels in Sacramento CA, the place sure feels like one. The Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel is right on J Street, surrounded by a mix of bail bond offices and tasty international eateries. Talk about a luxurious location! The State Capitol Museum and Community Center Theater were both just a short walk away, and Old Sacramento was an easy stroll. We also loved being so close to DOCO for shopping and late-night eats.
Food-wise, we had plenty of options. Glides Cafe & Market was great for quick bites, and we enjoyed drinks at the always-busy Public Market Bar. In-room dining came in handy, too. We really appreciated the small touches like free toiletries at the front desk and access to a 24-hour gym. Want to beat the heat? Make a splash in the outdoor pool!
Moving on to our King Room, it was spacious and had a cozy built-in window seat that instantly captivated us. It was our favorite spot for coffee and people-watching. There was plenty of storage, a Starbucks coffee maker, and a comfy lounge chair. The highlight, though, was the Sweet Sleeper bed. The super soft pillows and plush mattress made it hard to get up.

Want to explore the exciting downtown? Consider staying at The Citizen Hotel, one of the top luxury Sacramento hotels. Located on J Street (not the flashiest area, but super central), it made getting around easy. The State Capitol and Museum were just a few blocks away, and Old Sacramento, with its historic charm and museums, was an easy 15-minute walk. We also squeezed in a visit to the Crocker Art Museum, just a short stroll along the river.
We wanted to spoil ourselves, so we ended up choosing the stylish Junior Suite. Each room in the hotel is unique, which we thought was a fun touch. Ours had high ceilings, modern furniture, and cool framed artwork. The living area was a nice bonus and made relaxing after a day out even better.
From the start, the service impressed us. The doormen were friendly and helpful, even offering food tips. We also loved the hidden lounge near the check-in which felt like a mini speakeasy. Moreover, the hotel’s pet-friendly setup was a plus, especially with Cesar Chavez Plaza right across the street. The free morning coffee and tea in the lobby was a small but appreciated perk.

Best Luxury. We loved every single aspect of our stay at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel. First of all, let’s talk about its location, which is right in Sacramento’s DOCO. It’s across from the Golden 1 Center, so we got to enjoy the lively vibe from the pool deck. Everything, from the State Capitol to Old Town, was within walking distance, and the Amtrak Station was just a quick five-minute stroll.
The amenities at the hotel were a huge plus, too. Think free morning coffee, evening wine hour, and even loaner bikes. The heated outdoor pool was another highlight, especially when it turned into part of the Revival Bar at night. In addition to that, the hotel is also pet-friendly, it has a solid fitness center, and it offers thoughtful extras like chargers and lint rollers at the front desk.
When it came to relaxation, we could always count on our suite. It was super spacious and stylish, with clean wood accents and colorful touches that gave it personality.
