Los Ñires Ushuaia
11
We didn’t mind staying a bit away from the town center to avoid all the hubbub, which is why our first choice is Los Ñires Ushuaia. This cozy, family-run hotel in the neighborhood of Bahía Golondrina combined a homely atmosphere with comfort. Moreover, it had splendid views of the surrounding mountains and the Beagle Channel. What more could we ask for?
The large rustic lodge in a timber-clad structure boasted wonderfully cozy guest rooms and suites in an absolutely stunning setting. What’s more, the cozy, wood-paneled rooms featured all mod-cons such as minifridges, safes, smart TVs, Wi-Fi, and modern bathrooms. If that wasn’t enough, they all also had sitting areas and views of either the channel, the mountains, or the lush forest.
That being said, the real beauty of this hotel was the outdoors. Every morning, we’d enjoy delicious breakfasts in front of the water. After a long day of exploring the region, our favorite thing to do was relax by a campfire and watch the snow-capped mountain peaks. Free parking, a country-style bar and restaurant with Beagle Channel views, and a complimentary local shuttle round up the amenities here. So, if you’re looking for an idyllic mountain lodge stay in Ushuaia, this is it.

Sitting high above the city of Ushuaia, the Wyndham Garden Ushuaia Hotel del Glaciar offers some of the most unbeatable views of the city, the Beagle Channel, and the surrounding peaks. What’s more, the city center is a mere 15-minute drive away, making everything we wanted to explore within a very easy distance.
We loved that the hotel blended traditional Patagonian lodge charm with modern comforts, making it ideal for us as we wanted both the convenience and the scenery. What’s more, the rooms and suites were simple but spacious, with plush, comfortable beds, sleek, chic bathrooms, and incredible views from huge, glass-paned windows. So even though we needed a rental or a taxi to get into the town center, the peaceful setting was absolutely worth it.
Downstairs, our favorite part of the property was the restaurant and bar, where huge windows framed the dramatic landscapes as we dug into delicious meals, including scrumptious breakfasts. Not only did we enjoy ski-to-door access, but also the hotel had a concierge, a ski school, a lounge, shuttles to drop us off into town, a fitness center, and even a sauna.

We relished in the lap of luxury at the Los Acebos Ushuaia Hotel, where every single space, private and communal, boasted breathtaking vistas of the Beagle Channel. What’s more, we were just 15 minutes away from the Ushuaia Harbor, which made us feel like VIPs staying here.
The rooms and suites here beautifully blended inviting and warm colors and elegant decor, making for a refined yet relaxed feel. Besides the exquisite decor which made us feel like modern hollywood royalty, the rooms were also airy and bright and came with a host of modcons. While some of them had mountain dews, they all had flat-screen TVs, free Wi-fi, and sleek bathrooms, with the penthouse suites also adding living rooms and multiple bathrooms.
It was a blessing that free parking was available on site, because we were renting a car during our stay in Ushuaia. Our days started with a fantastic spread of a breakfast buffet which was served in an elegant restaurant. What’s more, the restaurant was a gastronome’s delight and even had a bar with a fabulous selection of wines. All in all, this hotel was the ideal spot to experience Ushuaia’s charm.

Cilene Del Faro Suites & Spa

On the northern fringes of the town of Ushuaia, right in front of Bahia de Ushuaia and the Naval Base, sits Cilene Del Faro Suites & Spa. So, everything to see and do in the town, as well as around, was either a short walk away or a short drive away.
We had the choice of sleek, modern, and yet comfortable one- and two-bedroom apartments, all of which featured modern minimalist decor and plush furnishings. What we really liked about the apartments was that they all had a living/dining area as well as well-equipped kitchenettes. So, we could actually whip up light meals when we wanted to, let’s say save a few pennies, or when we weren’t in the mood to step out for meals. If that wasn’t enough, the apartments also had free Wi-fi, flat-screen TVs, and modern bathrooms, with the upgraded ones even adding whirlpool tubs.
Did we mention that this aparthotel did in room breakfasts? Yes! Despite being in an aparthotel, the place was overflowing with amenities. Besides free parking and a business center, there were even recreational facilities, including a fitness center, a sauna, and an indoor heated pool. If that wasn’t enough, there was even a spa where we could unwind with massages after long days of exploring the region. A chic bar with views of the channel and skylights, and a lounge with a fireplace rounded up the amenities here.

Oshovia Hostel

Best hostel. As social butterflies, we were looking for the ideal hostel in Ushuaia for mingling with other travelers, and Oshovia Hostel fit the bill perfectly. The best bit was that we were also saving money — more than a few pennies, in fact — making it one of the best value-for-money prospects on this list.
We loved everything about this warm and welcoming, newly-built, family-run hostel. The interiors were charming and simple, with many furnishings and decor pieces made from stones and recycled wood sourced locally. So, it felt very warm and welcoming after a long day of travel or sightseeing. We had the choice of dorm rooms with bunk beds, as well as private rooms with traditional beds. Not only were they all immaculate and spacious, but they also had a cozy atmosphere, heated floors, storage lockers, neat, shared bathrooms, and views of the city or the mountains.
The hostel had an activities roster that allowed us to explore Ushuaia as well as mingle with fellow travelers. Every morning, we’d dig into an indulgent breakfast, starting our day on a high note. Aside from the lush gardens, the hospital also had paid shuttle services, a tour desk, a shared kitchen, a lounge, and free Wi-fi. What more could you ask for?

Las Hayas Resort Hotel

We were looking for some privacy and serenity while being close to everything to see and do in Ushuaia. That’s why we chose Las Hayas Ushuaia Resort, which is nestled in the forested hills in a nature reserve, just about 10 minutes from Ushuaia’s center. It doesn’t get any more romantic than at the rooms and suites in Las Hayas, all of which were spacious with sweeping views of the wild yet serene landscape. The best bit was that they all had huge windows with views of either the mountains or the Beagle Channel and the ocean, with some of them, like ours, even featuring spa baths!
We were impressed by the amenities at the upscale Las Hayas. Firstly, there were lots of activities to book — both paid and free — and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Secondly, the well-equipped and massive spa was perfect for unwinding after long sightseeing days, as was the indoor pool and jetted tub. Rounding up the features was the international restaurant and terrace bar, making this an excellent place for a rejuvenating stay.

Albatros Hotel
4
Best location. Albatros Hotel is the original four-star hotel in Ushuaia. However, its most telling feature is the fact that it boasts the most central location in town, right in front of the main port in Ushuaia. So, staying here was extremely convenient for not only exploring the waterfront area but also embarking on cruises in the region. Even though they were slightly on the smaller side, the rooms and suites were warmly decorated. What’s more, they all came with minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. What we loved was that views were available in all rooms, and some of the best rooms had excellent views of the waterfront.
Despite being slightly dated, the hotel does very well on the amenities front. For instance, the restaurant served delicious Patagonian fare, while the bar was all about cocktails and fine wines. After a long day of exploring Ushuaia and the region, we’d unwind at the spa with a massage and a sauna session. Free parking, ski storage, and an exercise room complete the place.

Los Cauquenes Resort + Spa + Experiences
3
Best Beagle Channel hotel. Do you want to stay right on the Beagle Channel? No place can match Ushuaia’s otherworldly drama and a waterside location better than Los Cauquenes Resort + Spa + Experiences. An extremely plush base camp for all our Tierra del Fuego adventures, this hotel was the epitome of luxury at the end of the world.
On the inside, the look is as contemporary as it gets; think rustic materials-meet-clean lines. We loved the smart rooms and suites, which came with atmospheric domed pine-clad ceilings, ‘sink-into’ plush beds, and epic views from huge picture windows. In fact, we could gaze across one of Patagonia’s most dramatic stretches of water, with the mountains looming in the distance. Besides all this, the chic rooms and suites also featured flat-screens, sleek bathrooms, and free Wi-Fi, with the suites adding whirlpool tubs and terraces.
There’s a bunch of free perks here: breakfasts in the posh restaurant with million-dollar views and shuttles to the airport and Ushuaia town. Other amenities include an indoor/outdoor pool, a sublime spa with a fitness center and a sauna, and a wine bar with a terrace and a fireplace. Don’t miss out on the high-end gastronomic experience here; you get to dig into exquisite regional fare. However, the standout here is the experiences roster, which has activities ranging from sailing on tandem kayaks to boat excursions and more.

Tierra de Leyendas Boutique Hotel

Perched high in the Andes Mountains, above the Beagle Channel, the Tierra de Leyendas Boutique Hotel was as charming as it was cozy. This 7-room casual country-style and family-owned lodge is steeped in local lore. The brainchild and creation of Sebastián, a local, is all about authentic Tierra del Fuego stories and tales.
Our days began with homemade breakfasts, which, when combined with personal touches and a warm welcome, made our stay absolutely worthwhile. At the end of a long day, the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the water, a greenhouse, and garden views were perfect for slowing down and soaking in the magic of the property. The laidback restaurant with stone tiled floors and rustic wood furnishings, and the cozy lounge with board games and a library, round up the furnishings here.
Choose from seven individually and yet warmly decorated rooms and suites, each of which draws inspiration from regional exploration and history. What’s more, the huge windows frame views of the gardens, the mountains, or the channel. Not only do they have wooden floors, but they also have mod-cons such as flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi, while the upgraded ones even add whirlpool baths.

Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa

Best overall. Sitting at the top of the list is a resort that sits high above the world, the Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa. The views over the Beagle Channel and its surrounding peaks were simply spellbinding and unreal from this mountaintop perch.
We loved the design that leaned heavily on stone, wood, and floor-to-ceiling glass, allowing us to gaze at the surreal landscapes. The rooms and suites here were spacious, with sleek bathrooms with thoughtful extras, and a slew of other mod-cons, despite it not being a luxury resort. Our Superior Suite has superb views of the canal, and we loved the automated blackout curtains that allowed us to sleep in on days we weren’t exploring. Did we mention the full-size amenities and bath salts in the bathroom? Yep.
Our days began with appetizing and sumptuous breakfasts at La Cravia, which could even be brought to our suite. Dinners would usually be at the on-site restaurant, which served delicious local and international fare. The highlight of our stay, though, was the indoor/outdoor spa pool, where lazing in the water with views of Ushuaia was unbeatable.
