Hotel d’Angleterre in Geneva sits right on the city’s elegant left bank, with the Jet d’Eau fountain practically performing for us outside our window and Mont Blanc peeking in from the distance on clear mornings. We spent our first evening just strolling along the promenade, watching the sunset shimmer over Lake Geneva, and wandering toward the Bains de Pâquis and the pretty gardens of Mon Repos Park.

What really stood out for us was the service. It was simply flawless. The staff seemed to appear exactly when we needed something, and then melt away again just as discreetly. While the hotel doesn’t overload you with in-house extras, it hardly needs to. Getting to THE OMNIA Mountain Lodge is an experience on its own. To reach this secret world above Zermatt, we started our journey through a tunnel carved into the rock, then glided up in a glass elevator that opened to a breathtaking view of the village below and the mighty Matterhorn beyond. It was one of those “wow” moments that never fail to mesmerize us.

Our Queen Size Room was a dreamy balance of comfort and style. Think clean lines, soothing neutral tones, and soft hardwood floors. Even the smallest rooms feel thoughtful, but if you want to splurge, the Tower Suite is the star. It’s got this little turret (an actual one!) with a telescope pointing straight at the Matterhorn.

Then came our favorite part: the pool. Imagine swimming from a chic indoor space straight into steaming 86-degree water outdoors, surrounded by crisp mountain air and snow-dusted views. The spa area continues the magic, with saunas, yoga spaces, and treatments that make it even harder to leave.

Nira Alpina

Nira Alpina fits right into Surlej, though not in the way we expected. Instead of leaning into chalet clichés, it’s all glass and timber. It’s modern, warm, and unapologetically sleek. It made us realize we could have the best of both worlds: mountain charm and modern design.

Our room was exactly what we thought it would be. The floor-to-ceiling windows pulled our eyes straight to the valley, and we couldn’t resist stepping out onto the balcony. Inside, we had thoughtful amenities, which included pale wood, a deep bathtub, a waterfall shower, and soft lighting.

Food at Nira Alpina was its own kind of journey. We loved dining in the cozy, wood-paneled restaurant, while the rooftop bar, with its Asian-inspired plates, quickly became one of our favorite hangout spots. The on-site spa was the cherry on top, with smooth stone, color-changing lights, and an underwater relaxation bed that felt straight out of a dream.

Le Grand Bellevue

We loved how Le Grand Bellevue spoiled us every single day, even from the moment we stepped inside. Dating back to 1912, we were greeted with a giant tweed-upholstered camel casually lounging in the lobby. There’s nothing short of extraordinary at the hotel, from the whimsical bird-covered wallpaper in the lounge and even cheeky pineapple-shaped light fixtures at the bar.

During our spare time, we would hang out in The Lounge, curled up by the fire with mugs of thick, velvety hot chocolate and a stack of beautifully curated books. Between rounds of board games and sprawling on the pastel-blue couches and lemon-yellow chairs, we almost forgot there was a whole ski town waiting outside.

Come evening, the energy shifts. The Bouquet bar and cocktail lounge is where things really come alive. From Thursday to Saturday, a DJ spins an eclectic mix, and the occasional cabaret or karaoke night keeps the vibe spontaneous and fun. Surrounded by soft floral wallpaper and a swirl of laughter and music, we found ourselves toasting the night away, completely caught up in the playful, slightly irreverent spirit that makes Le Grand Bellevue so unforgettable.

This intimate hotel is tucked away in the quiet little village of Casima, where a day feels like more than 24 hours. It was so peaceful that we loved strolling the silent roads at night and watching the fireflies light up. It’s the perfect destination for a weekend escape from the business around Lake Como.

The hotel, as you can see from the name, is small with only six rooms. Our room was stylish and cozy, with a ridiculously comfortable bed. The balcony was the highlight, though, opening up to the one-of-a-kind views. Everything about the space felt carefully thought through, designed for slowing down and enjoying the moment.

Our dinner was also unforgettable. Porcini and venison, paired with a local red, all cooked by a professional chef. Breakfast the next morning was simple but top-notch, which we loved just as much. The staff made us feel completely at home, and the fact that they even had a dog bed ready for our pup was priceless.

HUUS Gstaad

Situated above the sleepy village of Saanen, with Gstaad just around the corner, HUUS Gstaad‘s location is hard to beat. From our balcony, we could see La Videmanette rising dramatically, sometimes even mimicking the Matterhorn if you caught it at the right angle. It’s not the sort of place where you can walk too much, but that hardly mattered with the bus pulling up right outside, ski shuttles on hand, and train stations close enough to make day trips effortless.

The most amazing part of our trip, though, was how much was folded into the stay. We’ve done Alpine getaways before, but none where rafting, biking, climbing, and guided hikes were all simply part of the deal. We didn’t even have to think about gear, as everything was waiting for us. On top of that, there’s a free ski school for kids under nine! Not to mention, we couldn’t resist taking out one of HUUS’s Range Rover convertibles for a spin.

Now, let’s talk about breakfast. Every morning, we were spoiled with thick yogurt and berries, pancakes dripping with maple syrup, and eggs with sausages piled high. In the evenings, we savored hamburgers and sea bass at the on-site restaurant, then wrapped up the night with a drink in the lobby bar.

Best Ski Resort. We arrived at Airelles Val d’Isère with so much excitement, as we knew we’d have one of the best skiing experiences here. Sitting right on the Place de Neige, stone chalets were all around, lifts were practically at our doorstep, and over 180 miles of trails were waiting for us. Thanks to this resort, we were able to ski straight out into one of Europe’s most stunning ski areas without breaking a sweat.

Getting geared up each morning was surprisingly fun thanks to the Bernard Orcel Ski Room. The valets had everything from the latest skis to luxe accessories ready for us, so we never once worried about rentals or logistics. The real treat, though, came after skiing. Stepping out of our boots to find hot chocolate and crêpes waiting!

For a small hotel, Airelles blew us away with its food scene. With seven bars and restaurants, we never ran out of options, from après-ski cocktails in the cigar lounge to gooey raclette at La Grande Ourse in a historic chalet. Our standout night? Dinner at Nobu’s Matsuhisa, where the mix of Peruvian and Japanese flavors was somehow even more delicious in the Alps.

We’ve seen all the amazing things people have to say about AMERON Davos Swiss Mountain Resort. Yet, as one of the best hotels in the Alps, it still managed to surprise us. Tucked into one of Switzerland’s most iconic ski towns, it strikes the perfect balance between stylish luxury and mountain coziness. While Davos is often associated with the World Economic Forum, for us it was all about the snow and the scenery.

Our Junior Suite opened up to a panorama of the surrounding peaks. The design leaned into Alpine traditions, with warm pine wood, soft faux furs, and pops of red. It wasn’t just pretty, though, as the space was also packed with modern comforts, from a plush bathroom setup to a spacious balcony.

Those who’ve stayed here often talk about the wellness amenities, and they became a highlight of our stay. The 4 Elements Spa was the heart of the hotel, with a pool, saunas, and endless options for unwinding after a day on the slopes. When it comes to dining, we were spoiled with countless on-site options. From woodsy fondue at Cervolino to surprisingly authentic Italian at Bacio della Mamma, as well as cocktails by the fire at Cantinetta, we had a blast.

Vals is a quiet and remote Alpine village, but the 7132 Hotel makes it feel like the center of the world. Even its name, taken from the local postal code, hints at how connected it is to this place. What drew us here most, though, were the thermal springs, which are the only ones of their kind in the Grisons. Sitting in mineral-rich water that’s been flowing for centuries, surrounded by mountains, we quickly understood why travelers have been coming here for wellness long before us.

Despite its tranquil setting, the hotel knows all the secrets to fun adventures. During our stay, we had the chance to skim over snowcapped peaks in a helicopter and snuggle under blankets on a horse-drawn sleigh ride up to Alp Arosa for drinks. Of course, we also loved swimming in the outdoor pools, soaking up those endless Alpine views.

We treated ourselves to the Penthouse Suite, one of the hotel’s most fabulous accommodations. With a private entrance, soundproof walls, and even champagne waiting for us, we were treated like VIPs. The Alpina Gstaad

Best Restaurant. You can’t talk about the best hotels in the Alps Switzerland, without mentioning The Alpina Gstaad. Just a couple of hours from Geneva, we were suddenly surrounded by wooden chalets, flower boxes, and sweeping views of the Alps. And although many travelers come here for skiing and hiking, we were happy enough just staying put in the hotel.

The hotel’s spa alone could keep anyone occupied for days. Think salt grotto, plunge pools, steam caves, and a perfectly warm, 27°C outdoor pool. We also made time for dinner at Martin Göschel’s Michelin-star restaurant, which was creative and extremely delicious. Everything was locally sourced, right down to the fish from Swiss lakes, and the whole experience was worth every penny. And the Oona Caviar? Perfection!

The rooms had the same balance of comfort and detail. Ours had a fireplace, carved wood ceilings, and big balconies that looked straight into the mountains. The design leaned into tradition with a modern polish. Even the bedside lamps were made from leather cowbells. The bathroom was generous too, with marble sinks, a soaking tub, and a walk-in shower.

Best Location. If you want to be in a prime location, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg should be your number one option. Sitting right in the center of the village, the hotel made it so easy to explore little shops, grab a bite nearby, and still be steps away from the Alps. We could also ski and stroll through the town with ease. Not to mention, this grand hotel was beautifully renovated in 2021, so aside from the amazing location, you can expect a fresh, updated look.

There are tons to see and do here, and we highly recommend The Palace Bar. We sampled an espresso martini, a Swiss Negroni, and a variety of cocktails there. And when we needed to recharge, we would go to the rooftop spa center. Expect steam baths, saunas, and an ice fountain. However, nothing compared to swimming in the infinity pool with the Alps stretched out in front of us.

The hotel has 129 lavish accommodation options. Since we wanted a little dose of luxury, we opted for the Belle Époque Room. The highlight? Waking up to mountain views from bed every single morning. We also loved sipping coffee on the terrace while being wrapped in a blanket. Engelberg gave us the adventure, but Kempinski made it feel like pure magic!
