Let’s start this list with The New View Inn. We were looking for hotels near Road Town without the typical resort hassle, and this place was a standout. Since there are only 12 units, the place felt quiet and private. Having free parking right there made it easy to come and go as we pleased while we explored Huntum’s Ghut and the surrounding area.

The room itself was surprisingly huge, around 400 sq ft. We actually used the kitchenette quite a bit. With a fridge, a microwave, and a Keurig, we could handle our own snacks and coffee without having to head out every single morning. We also had a big Smart TV for hanging out in the evenings. It was basically like having a large, clean studio apartment all to ourselves.

Another thing that we liked was the helpful staff. They made the check-in process easy and were quick to give us the lowdown on the best local spots and nearby restaurants. It’s located just a short drive from the main botanical gardens and the downtown area, so we were never far from the action.

Nanny Cay Resort and Marina

We checked into Nanny Cay Resort and Marina for a quick overnight stay before picking up our charter the next day, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. After a long day of travel with our kids, we just wanted something easy and low-key, and this place delivered. We had booked the Deluxe Room, which was honestly awesome. It was super clean, fresh, and modern, with a great balcony to hang out on while we geared up for the boat.

This hotel is ideal if you’re looking to keep the family entertained without much effort. There’s a pool for the kids and a cute little beach right next to it, so we could just park ourselves there for the afternoon. We spent our evening at the laid-back bar and grill on-site, which was exactly the kind of chill we needed to decompress.

The next morning was just as easy. We grabbed some quick breakfast sandwiches at the local coffee shop to fuel up for the charter. The kids were obsessed with the chickens and roosters running around the property, which kept them busy while we finished our coffee. The location is the real selling point for us. We spent our afternoons walking through the downtown area, checking out the local shops, and enjoying the old-world feel of the town. It’s also a quick trip over to the Road Town East Ferry, which we highly recommend using. We caught a boat out to Virgin Gorda, which is a must-see for nature lovers, as well as Jost Van Dyke.

When we got back in the evenings, our room was ready to welcome us. This hotel offers everything from standard to deluxe suites, but for a good view of the harbor or the Capitol, go for the premium room. It’s a great spot to catch the sunset before heading to dinner. You can eat all your meals at the hotel’s restaurant, but since you’re right in town, you can also walk around to try the different Caribbean spots nearby.

Ke Villas gave us one of the best holidays in the BVI. The location is super convenient for hitting up Soper’s Hole, Smuggler’s Cove, and Nanny Cay, which has a great pool if you need a break from the salt. We also spent a lot of time around the bars and restaurants at Cane Garden Bay, but make sure to check the schedule and avoid those spots on cruise ship days!

The accommodation itself was spotless. One of the best parts was how close our room was to the water. Even with the air-conditioning humming and the door shut tight, we could still hear the waves hitting the shore. Outside, the grounds are really well-kept, and we had our own porch surrounded by coconut and calabash trees and a ton of flowers.

The highlight of the mornings had to be Charles’s breakfasts. He used homegrown fruit, like pineapples and bananas, right from the property, which tasted so much better than what we got at a store. He even went out of his way to make proper French-style eggy bread, and we loved it. Huge thanks to Charles for the hospitality, as it really made the trip.

Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel

The Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel is easily one of the nicest, most modern boutique hotels in Tortola British Virgin Islands. The rooms are super clean, and the furniture is top-notch. We loved having a little kitchen with a stove and microwave, which helped us not to eat out for every single meal. Plus, the views from the oceanfront rooms are amazing.

The hotel is just across a small street from the water, but you’d hardly notice. It feels like you’re right on the sand anyway. It has an on-site restaurant and loungers set up directly on the beach, so grabbing a towel and heading over is incredibly easy. The water here is the calmest we’ve ever seen, perfect if you’re into paddleboarding or just want a chill swim without fighting waves. If you want more action, the hotel has jet skis and kayaks for rent right by the restaurant.

What’s great about staying here is that you aren’t stuck in the middle of nowhere. A lot of other beaches on the island are pretty remote, but here we could walk to a grocery store and about five different restaurants. During our time there, there was often live music at the nearby beach bars.

Best Secluded. For travelers wanting a secluded hideaway, we’d recommend the Sugar Mill Hotel at the west end of Tortola. It’s located right on Apple Bay, just a quick trip up the road from Long Bay, which gave us a lot of privacy. The best part was definitely the proximity to the water. The Emerald Coast was basically our front porch! We spent most of our time at their private beach area, which was well-stocked with bungalows and lounge chairs.

The hotel only has 24 rooms, and we loved that every single one comes with a private balcony and a view of the sea. Ours was fresh and modern thanks to a recent renovation, which made it a great place to relax. Since it’s an all-inclusive hotel, we didn’t have to calculate the cost of our meals or drinks.

For food, we had two solid options on-site. We grabbed dinner at The Terrace for the impressive sunset views, but we actually spent more time at Tramonti. While there’s a lot to love about the Wyndham Tortola BVI Lambert Beach Resort, we think the location is its biggest selling point. It’s spread across 14 acres on the northeast shore, sitting right between the rainforest and the beach. Since it’s so close to the Terrance B. Lettsome Airport, it was an incredibly convenient home base for us, especially for catching our flight out. Being on the east end also meant we were a quick trip away from Parham Town, which we hit up for some local shopping and a few meals outside the resort.

The resort itself has that reliable Wyndham hospitality we’ve come to expect, so we knew we were in good hands from check-in. Our suite was spacious and well-equipped with everything we needed. When we weren’t out and about, we spent most of our time at the pool, which has a handy swim-up bar. We also loved grabbing a shaded cabana on the sand to stay out of the direct sun for a bit.

For food, we mostly stuck to the Turtle Restaurant and Bar on-site. They have a good mix of Mediterranean and Caribbean dishes, which worked well for a quick lunch or a cold drink in the afternoon. Since it’s all-inclusive, the meals provided for us were healthy and balanced, which made it easy to stick to our goals without thinking of the budget.

When we first discovered The Aerial, we were given tons of accommodation options. They have a variety of individual residences scattered across the property, or you can go all out and book a private villa if you want to feel like you’re living on your own island. We booked the King Room, and it was incredibly open and airy. We enjoyed our room so much as it let in a ton of natural light and a constant sea breeze.

Best Amenities. The very first thing we noticed about the Long Bay Beach Resort was its massive size. Also listed as one of the best boutique resorts in the Caribbean, this property is about 52 acres, sitting right on a mile of white sand at the west end of Tortola. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They handed rum punches and got us settled into our suite. We didn’t even have to carry a room key, as they gave us digital wristbands.

That said, our suite was to die for. It was like a high-end beach house. It was bright with tiled floors, wicker furniture, and some nice black-and-white photos on the walls. We had a mini-bar, coffee maker, and some really nice Byredo toiletries in the bathroom. If you’re planning a visit, we’d suggest booking one of the Ground Floor Beachfront Suites. Having a private terrace right by the waves can make a huge difference.

One thing to know: the water right in front of the resort can get pretty rough, so it’s not the best for a casual swim. To make up for it, the resort runs a quick seven-minute shuttle to Smuggler’s Cove, which has much calmer water and some cool, laid-back beach bars. Back at the resort, we spent our time using the complimentary bikes and hitting the pickleball courts for the free lessons. There’s also a solid gym and a spa called The Cure, where we managed to have a sauna session and a massage. On top of that, the hotel also offers free yoga sessions twice a week!
