Family-run hotels tend to have this special charm that makes trips even more enjoyable, and that was exactly what we felt with Doors of Cappadocia. Right in the heart of town, they even picked us up from the bus station. Being just a short stroll from the Goreme Open Air Museum, the hotel felt perfectly placed.

After contemplating for a while, we decided the Queen Room was the perfect one for us. Spacious, cool, and quiet, it gave us the perfect space to unwind after hiking. The hot tub was pure luxury. We probably spent too much time soaking, but who could blame us? With the pool view, comfy bed, and thoughtful touches, we had nothing to complain about.

After a good night’s sleep, we would fill our tummies with a traditional Turkish breakfast, complete with menemen and fresh gözleme, while sipping endless glasses of tea. We were also addicted to the on-site restaurant’s kebabs and local wine. If you’re not in the mood to swim, we highly recommend winding down at the snack bar by the pool.

AJWA Cappadocia is a must-include on this list. Spread across orchards, gardens, and cave-like courtyards, the place instantly gave us Silk Road caravanserai vibes, but with way more comfort. We loved spending time on the terraces filled with herbs and flowers, some of which later appeared in our dinner, and stumbled on yurts and cave rooms that looked straight out of a history book.

We wanted the best experience. Thus, we chose the Nasireddin Mehmed Cave Suite. It was carved right into the volcanic rock. Inside, it was all warmth and detail: a travertine bathroom, carpets, and furniture so beautifully handmade that we couldn’t stop running our hands over them.

The food? Wow. Zeferan Restaurant kept us coming back for long, slow meals. We especially enjoyed the smoky kebabs, fluffy pittas, and saffron-laced shah pilaf. Delicious! Everything had this rich, tandoor-baked depth that made it unforgettable. When we weren’t eating, we were either melting away in the hammam at Afiya Spa or signing up for activities, like a tea ceremony and a walk to the horse ranch.

You won’t regret staying at Cappadocia Cave Suites, one of the best hotels in Goreme. We loved that it was just a short stroll to the Zelve Open Air Museum and only a quick ride to the 10th-century Al Nazar Church. Being so close to all that history gave our stay this adventurous edge.

The hotel made exploring ridiculously easy. They sorted out everything from airport shuttles to day tours, which saved us so much hassle. On top of that, we also had fun thanks to the Turkish Nights and whirling dervish shows. We were able to experience the region’s culture and adventures without feeling rushed.

When it came to dining, we were never disappointed. Breakfast was a spread of homemade goodies, and dinners at Historia Restaurant hit the spot every time. The Sunset Café also became our go-to for drinks, thanks to those valley views. But honestly, having a private pool in our suite was the ultimate luxury. We would come back from exploring, sink into the water, and just… stay.

Cappadocia was everything we imagined and more, but staying at Seraphim Cave Suites & Spa made the trip unforgettable. Set inside a restored 1853 mansion, the property immediately transports you. We loved spending our afternoon with a glass of wine on the terrace, watching the sky shift through shades of pink and gold.

Our Cave Suite was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Each of the 21 rooms has its own character, and ours combined antique furnishings, rich fabrics, and rustic stone walls to create a warm, cocoon-like atmosphere. It was indulgent yet comforting.

Food and wellness are always at the heart of our travels, and Seraphim exceeded expectations on both fronts. The Tasula Restaurant delivered beautifully presented regional dishes. The wellness facilities were also fantastic. It had an indoor heated pool, a traditional hammam, and a rejuvenating massage that left us completely refreshed.

Alden Hotel, Urgup

Best for Modern Luxury. Just outside Urgup, we stumbled on Alden Hotel, a newer 5-star spot that immediately felt like a breath of fresh air. Unlike cave hotels, it’s modern without being out of place. Think clean lines and stylish touches that still echo the charm of Cappadocia.

We got the Premiere Room, which we truly enjoyed. The pale marble, warm wood, and bright kilims made it feel cozy yet chic, and the terrace was our favorite spot. Morning coffees turned into balloon-watching rituals, and evenings ended with wine by the fireplace. If you have more to spend, feel free to stay in one of the cave-inspired suites. They come with vaulted stone ceilings and jacuzzis.

Alden truly knew how to spoil us. We would kick off our days with a morning yoga session, which we needed so much. Every evening, we were treated to cocktails at the lobby bar. The local wine list was surprisingly good! On slower days, we made the most of the spa. We loved losing hours between the Turkish bath, sauna, and heated pool.

Argos, Uchisar

Argos is one of those hotels that have undergone so many changes. Despite that, the hotel itself still feels like a tucked-away secret, perched between Uchisar Castle and Tiraz Castle. From the terrace, we looked out over the fairy chimneys of Pigeon Valley, with Mount Erciyes glinting in the distance, and just stood there for a while, soaking it all in.

We loved how personal everything was. The spa, carved into fairy chimneys, was this cool, cocoon-like retreat where we spent an afternoon drifting between the cave pool and the flower-filled terrace. Emre’s massage? Hands down one of the best we’ve had. Later, we lounged by the pool with snacks, wandered the organic gardens, and laughed through a wine tasting in the ancient cellars.

We booked the Stone Room, and it had that lived-in charm you can’t fake. Each space is unique, but ours came with carved stone walls, lavender bunches, and a terrace. We loved that there were no TVs, just log fires, swallows darting past, and time to breathe. Oh, we also had a Bose Bluetooth radio. Even the bathrooms felt like little sanctuaries, some with tubs big enough to soak away entire afternoons.

Sacred House in Urgup is far more than a regular hotel. Housed in a 250-year-old Greek mansion, it instantly transports you to another era. Passing through its stone archways, we felt every corner filled with echoes of the past and an air of mystery.

The rooms are unlike anything we’ve encountered before, each one designed around a distinct theme such as “myth” or “dream”. Instead of conventional hotel decor, you’ll find brass bathtubs, medieval-style canopy beds, shimmering drapes, and even altars. Everywhere we looked, it was like we found a piece of art.

What about our dining experience? Sacred House’s own restaurant, Angels & the Searchers, elevated the culinary experience, with hearty Turkish breakfasts and thoughtfully crafted dinners that blended local traditions with global influences. When we weren’t savoring meals, we found ourselves tucked away in the library, turning the pages of old books.

Museum Hotel, Uchisar

The Museum Hotel in Uchistar is exactly what it says, a museum. While we were there, we found priceless antiques in every corner. Don’t expect a polished, modern building. Inspired by ancient stone houses, you’ll find uneven stairs, low ceilings, and winding paths. It isn’t perfect in the traditional sense, but that’s exactly what made our stay special.

Every morning, we started our day with breakfast on the terrace. The sweeping valley views were to die for. We also loved the fresh fruits and veggies, grown right in the hotel’s garden. The heated outdoor pool also stole the show. We couldn’t resist taking a dip even in cooler weather. And when we wanted to linger over dinner, Lil’a Restaurant served up forgotten Cappadoccian recipes alongside classic Turkish dishes, all with a view that made every bite taste better.

For our stay, we treated ourselves to the Imperial Pool Suite, and it was worth every splurge. Having our own private pool, hot tub, and spa bath tucked inside a cave room was a whole new experience for us. To top it off, there was even a wine tap in the room. Situated on the slopes above Urgup, the property is part of a UNESCO-endorsed restoration project. What we enjoyed the most, though, was how this place effortlessly offers modern comfort while still balancing heritage.

We spent our nights in the Cave Suite, which exceeded every expectation. It carried a rustic charm while still feeling utterly indulgent. Each room here has its own character, and ours featured a warm fireplace and a striking stone bathtub, making us feel as if we were in a palace. Some suites even boast private hammams or terraces with breathtaking valley views, making it clear that no two stays are alike.

Dining was another highlight of our stay. Revithia, Cappadocia’s first-ever tasting-menu restaurant, turned each meal into a journey. Every plate honored local ingredients with inventive flair, and the experience was unforgettable. Beyond the hotel itself, its location couldn’t be more convenient. It sits within Goreme National Park and is just a short walk from the heart of Urgup, making exploration seamless.

Located in Uchisar Valley, it’s surrounded by stunning rock formations and just a short walk from Uchisar Castle, which offers panoramic views. The Göreme Open-Air Museum is also nearby, so we could explore the region’s history with ease.

We felt right at home from the very moment we checked in. We were greeted with champagne and personalized recommendations by the staff. The lodge’s design is serene, with three floors of comfort, but the top floor was the one that stole our hearts. The Plum restaurant there has a rooftop garden growing some of its organic produce, and the views are breathtaking.

Moreover, our King Cave Suite was pure relaxation. The spa bath and fireplace were our favorite features, and the room had everything we needed, from a mini-bar to cozy bathrobes.
