Most of the area of the continent of North America is made up of three large nations, Canada, the United States of America and Mexico. The large island territory of Greenland is also included in this region. North America is a melting pot of cultures with immigrants from all over the world continuing to settle here over the last few centuries. Cities like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto are some of the most multicultural, while Nuuk in Greenland and many cities in Mexico hold firmly to their traditional customs.
Some of the most dramatic scenery is found in the northern part of North America within stunning national parks like the breathtaking Grand Canyon, the Yellowstone National Park, the Banff National Park and other areas that the American Cordillera dominates. Manmade wonders such as the Empire State Building and Mount Rushmore in the United States, Notre Dame Basilica in Canada and the ancient monuments of Chechen Itza and Tulum in Mexico attract visitors by the thousands. Added to all this is the lore of Hollywood in California, where visitors from all over the world converge in the hope of catching a glimpse of one of their favorite stars.
