Inka Pacha Ecohostel, Isla del Sol, Bolivia

Best hostel. We begin with one of the loveliest best hostels we’ve stayed at, Inka Pacha Ecohostel on Isla del Sol on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. An outpost of the world-famous HI Hostels, this hostel is tucked in the southern town of Yumani on Isla del Sol, the gorgeous island in Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian side.
We loved the authentic vibes at this newly-built hostel that’s decorated in vibrant Inca style. Sitting an hour’s boat ride from Copacabana, this hostel was the perfect starting point for all of our Island trekking expeditions to the Inca sites. We loved the views of lake titicaca from practically everywhere in the property, whether it was a communal areas or the rooms. We had the choice of multiple private and family rooms, all of which came with private bathrooms. What’s more, every room featured terraces or balconies with stunning views of the lake. Plush beds, free wi-fi, and hot shower facilities rounded up the features here.
That being said, the real beauty of the hostel was in the communal and the outdoor areas. Our favorite place to relax was the terrace, which had alfresco seating that allowed us to soak in views of the lake. Every morning, we began our day with a fantastic american and continental breakfast, which also had vegetarian options. We could either enjoy it in the communal dining area in the house, or outside on the terrace. Access to the kitchen and parking facilities round up the amenities here.

Hotel La Cúpula, Copacabana, Bolivia

We’ve always loved bohemian and boutique accommodations, which is why we fell in love with the artsy Hotel La Cúpula the minute we laid eyes on it. Imagine a structure with arabic inspired architecture and a whitewashed facade sitting right on the shores of Lake Titicaca; that’s this hotel for you.

We had the choice of a number of bright, vibrant, and nautical-inspired rooms and suites, all of which were furnished with bright blue linens and wood or wicker. What’s more, they all had views of either the lush gardens or the lake. If that wasn’t enough, there were no TVs – not that we needed them – but there were sleek private/shared bathrooms. We went ahead and splurged on a wonderful suite, which also had a whirlpool tub and a living area.
Even though breakfast isn’t a complimentary affair, it was a delicious one. It was served in the casual restaurant, which also served international fare in other meals. Furthermore, other communal amenities included a library, a living room with a tv, a full kitchen where we could whip up light meals, and even a lovely garden area with lounge chairs. That there was even a sun terrace with an outdoor fireplace and a hot tub? What more could we ask for?

Best chain hotel. If you want the comfort and familiraty of a chain hotel on Lake Titicaca, then Sonesta Hotel Posadas Del Inca Puno is your best bet. Exploring Lake Titicaca and its attractions, which are one of the top things to see in Peru, was very easy staying at this hotel, which sat right on the lakeshores in Puno.
First and foremost, we love that the property has its very own private dock, which made it very easy for us to hop on to boats to reach all sites. In fact, we enjoyed a lot of boat rides on the lake at all times, thanks to the presence of this private dog. What’s more, the front desk was more than happy to arrange for all sorts of excursions. When we were back at the hotel, we’d head straight to the on site restaurant, which served delicious peruvian and international cuisine, complete with jaw-dropping leaf views. A gift shop, a 24 hour front desk, and free wi-fi everywhere roundup the amenities of this place.
We had the choice of many modern rooms and suites, all of which had seating areas, tasteful decor, cable tv’s, and ensuite private bathrooms. Moreover, all rooms were individually acclimatized, allowing us to adapt to the altitude and stay comfortably..

Hotel Titicaca Dora, Peru

Hotel Titicaca Dora has to be one of the coolest hotels to sit on Lake Titicaca. This family-owned-and-run lodging sits on its very own private island off the coast of Puno. However, what makes it special is that it’s a floating hotel; that means that the entire place sits right on the lake’s waters.
When we arrived at the dock in Puno, the staff was waiting for us to whisk us away to the hotel. The caretaker and his team was extremely warm and friendly, ensuring that they had our dietary requirements right. What’s more, they treated us to the most delicious meals ever, considering that food was included in the room rates here. What’s more, they even stayed with us throughout the Uros community tour, which included a visit to the small museum about the island’s history, how it was built, and the indigenous communities. If that wasn’t enough, the staff even arranged for us to ride in the traditional boats, even though they did not have one at the property.
While there are a number of rooms to choose here, the all glass domes offer the most fantastic staying experience. Not only were they stylish, spacious, comfortable, but they also had propane heaters and plenty of blankets, as it would get cold at night. While there was also a private ensuite bathroom, a seating area, another comforts, the highlight here was the views of the surroundings and the sky through the all-glass setting.
“We’ve never seen so many stars at night as we saw staying at Titicaca Dora!”

Castillo del Titicaca, Peru

Few people can boast about having stayed in a castle on Lake Titicaca, but we can definitely say that having stayed at Castillo del Titicaca. We practically lived like royalty at this castle-turned-guesthouse, which offered some of the most gorgeous and romantic views of the lake, given that it sat on the edge of the lake. It was like we were living in our very own remote, yet serene and luxurious fairytale on the famed lake.
There’s nowhere on the lake quite as romantic as staying at this castle, which is perched on a cliff overlooking the water. What’s more, there is even a series of small structures around the castle, designed to resemble a traditional Andean town. These contain a small chapel, the bar, the restaurant, as well as a terrace that has the best views of all. We loved digging into amazing meals at the restaurant, which had a very romantic atmosphere. Furthermore, there’s even a private beach area with beachfront access as well as a ton of watersports facilities. Did we mention the lush gardens where we’d stroll after a long day of exploring the lake?
With just five rooms hidden between two pink sandstone cliffs, staying here felt absolutely intimate and exclusive. While four of them boasted spectacular views of the gardens, the suite overlooks the lake; so, if you book early enough, you can nab it. Nevertheless, they all came with carpeted floors, quilts, balconies, free Wi-Fi, and even private bathrooms with spa baths.

Casa Andina Premium Puno, Peru

Few people visit the largely dusty Puno in Peru, except to stare at the world’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca. And when it comes to Lake Titicaca views, Casa Andina Premium Puno is a peaceful sun trap perfectly positioned on the banks of the lake to achieve just that.
Even though the lake views were prime, we loved the amenities at this four-star Casa Andina brand outpost. Firstly, there was a much-needed massage room on the ground floor, which offered a wide range of treatments, even though we needed to book them a day prior. Secondly, there was the hotel restaurant, Alma, which served local delights and Peruvian specialities. However, our favorite place was the lobby bar, which not only served spirits, beers, and wines, but also had all-day happy hour deals on pizzas and cocktails.
Just like the other hotels in the Casa Andina range, the rooms and suites here had whitewashed walls with dark wood furnishings and huge paintings of the lake. If you’re looking for something special, choose the second-floor rooms, which boast delightful balconies over the terracotta-tiled roof of the lower property and the lake.

Partying at an amazing, funky hostel on the banks of Lake Titicaca? Sign us up! Welcome to Hostal Restobar Flor de mi Tierra, the best party hostel we found in Copacabana on the Bolivian side of the lake.
Despite being a family-run hostel, this amazing place allowed us to grab a few drinks and beers at the onsite bar, making it the perfect way to end the day after all that exploring. However, there were a lot of other things to do here, besides grabbing drinks at the bar, which is also a great space for socializing. The views were excellent, as was the restaurant that served a bunch of international cuisines. In fact, it even had an outdoor area and served complimentary breakfasts in the morning. Other relaxing communal spaces at the hostel included the gardens, the patio, the terrace, and the coffee shop. Did we mention that they also had luggage storage and a tour desk? Yes!
Choose from a host of dorm rooms and private ones, all of which come with modern, immaculate bathrooms, both shared and private. What’s more, they were all air-conditioned and had comfy beds, free Wi-Fi, and even flat-screen TVs.

GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca, Puno, Perú

If you’re someone who likes bells and whistles, then look no further than GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca in Puno. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees, wetlands, and low-lying islands, this hotel, perched on a private island, juts out over the lake, enjoying dazzling views.
Formerly the Libertador Hotel, this hotel has a nice, rounded set of amenities, especially since the highlight here is the views of the lake. Not only was there a fitness center, but there was also a steam room, a whirlpool, and a sauna. At the end of a long day of exploring, these were all very welcoming indeed. Later on, we’d head to the bar, where we’d enjoy drinks and maybe even play a round of pool at the large American pool table. Our days started and ended at the restaurant, which served delicious breakfasts and Peruvian fare.
Standard double bedrooms are of a fair size, with white walls, green carpets, dark wood trim, and large built-in wardrobes. Each one has paintings of local Peruvian scenes and a pair of armchairs. East-facing rooms that look out over the lake boast one whole wall of windows. There are few sunrise views in the world quite like it. Bathrooms are simple but comfortable, with step-in showers and large mirrors.

Amantica Lodge, Amantani Island, Peru

Since we were looking to stay somewhere a little more intimate, we were wowed by the exclusive-use Amantani Lodge on the island of Amantani on the Peruvian side of the lake. Tucked in a stylish and private two-bedroom villa, this lodge welcomed us with a refreshing drink, followed by a brief tour of the property and settling us in.
We had the choice of two rooms – a twin and a double, which were joined by a spacious, shared bathroom. Since we’d gotten the master, we also had access to one of the two gorgeous decks, from where we could enjoy the ultimate showstopper here: the views. Nevertheless, both rooms had cozy gas chimneys for chilly nights.
The rest of the villa was even more impressive, if possible. Not only did it have a jacuzzi carved into the rock, but there was also a private chef on hand to prepare delicious meals for us. Furthermore, the main, private decking area even had a dining area with sublime and sweeping views of the lake. Did we mention that there’s now even a minibar on the property? Yep.

Posada del Inca Eco-Lodge, Isla del Sol, Bolivia

Most exclusive. It might look and seem more ‘basic’ than the other options on this list, but Posada del Inca Eco-Lodge is anything but that. This exclusive rustic retreat sits on car-free Isla Del Sol, one of the most beautiful islands of Lake Titicaca. In fact, one can stay here only if they book a package trip, complete with excursions, transport, and food all included in the room rates. The kicker, though? The idyllic setting, which makes everything worthwhile.
Tucked within a restored yet quaintly rustic stone house, the inn is surrounded by walled-in gardens full of verdant and gorgeous trees, flower beds, boat-shaped benches, and birds. The dawn views over the lake are particularly stunning, which extend to some of the best rooms in the house. We had the choice of 20 simple yet cozy and comfy homely-style rooms, all of which had private ensuite bathrooms with hot-water showers. Our room even had a small terrace, and none of them have fridges or TVs, although they all do have heating.
The coca tea served when we arrived was probably the only “service” they provided, and we were more than okay with it. We’d spend our days enjoying the views, walking around, and digging into the super-simple yet delicious home-cooked food at the hotel. Did we mention that there’s another hotel restaurant with an outdoor space with fabulous views of the lake? Don’t miss it!

Titilaka by Andean, Puno, Peru

Most luxurious. Every single list of the best stays on Lake Titicaca mentions the Titilaka by Andean, and for a good reason. This luxurious, all-inclusive hotel on the banks of the lake in Puno, Peru, is Lake Titicaca’s only five-star outpost, but it doesn’t offer your average, run-of-the-mill luxury. The simple, rustic structure on the grassy edges of the lake happens to be an eco-friendly and forward-looking hotel, even though it has the thorough trappings of a five-star one.
Choose from 18 plush suites all decked out in earthy hues, high-end linens, and sleek bathrooms with oversized bathtubs and handcrafted bath products. What’s more, there are four room categories, with the biggest question being: do you want views of the sunset or the sunrise? The Dawn and “cozy” Explorer rooms all face Lake Titicaca, while the Dusk ones boast the best sunset views over the farmland and the smaller lake inlet. Can’t decide? The Corner room has both.
Seafood, especially fish, is the main focus at the restaurants here, and the drinks are amazing too. The spa helped us adjust to the altitude, and there was even a movie room with games. However, the lake took centerstage in our holiday, as we rested in the lovely lakeside cabanas, enjoyed cocktails on the waterfront terrace, and even indulged in kayaking excursions. Last but not least, the indulgent service was half the fun here: we enjoyed customized archaeological tours, breakfast in bed, and the Land Rover-cum-speedboat ride that whizzed us off to this secluded hotel.
